When Paul James Beattie was born on September 7, 1895, in Pennsylvania, his father, Samuel, was 25 and his mother, Mary, was 25. He had two brothers and two sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company B, 112th Signal Battalion, 37th Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on August 22, 1918 at the age of 22 in Baccarat, France and is now buried in Cedar Grove Cemetery, Chambersburg, Franklin County, Pennsylvania, USA.
