Minor Greener entered the military service in New York. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in Battery B, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He was Killed in Action on April 1, 1918 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Vigneulles, France but his surname is inscribed as Greenor and ranked as a Private.
