Robert Dewey West was born on February 8, 1899 in Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana. Robert was an employee of the Atlas Engine Company before enlistment. He voluntarily enlisted into the US Regular Army at Fort Benjamin Harrison on 25 June 1917. Initially serving in the 45th Infantry Regiment, he was transferred to the 28th Infantry before embarking for overseas service on 28 October 1917. He was Killed in Action while carrying his Captain from the field near Mandres, France. His current burial place is unknown.
