When Hunter Massie was born in 1893 in Kentucky, his father, WILLIAM, was 30 and his mother, Hester, was 29. He had three brothers and three sisters. He entered the military service in Ohio and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Sergeant in HQ Company, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on March 26, 1918 and is now buried in St. Mihiel American Cemetery, Thiaucourt, France.
