When Rex Oswald Norris was born on January 3, 1889, in North Carolina, his father, Jesse, was 27 and his mother, Charlotte, was 23. He had three brothers and four sisters. He entered the service from Sedro-Woolley, Wash. in July 1917. He transferred from Camp Murray, Wn. to Camp Mills, N. Y. He was sent to France and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company L, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 12, 1918 at the age of 29 and is now buried in Union Cemetery, Sedro-Woolley, Skagit County, Washington.
