When Otis D. Green was born on January 23, 1888, in Cleveland, North Carolina, his father, Thomas, was 29 and his mother, Lona, was 19. He had three brothers. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company C, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on March 1, 1918 in France at the age of 30 and is now buried in Mountain Rest Cemetery, Kings Mountain, Cleveland County, North Carolina, USA.
