Dean E. Wilkins was born on December 2, 1895. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company F, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on September 12, 1918 at the age of 22 and is now buried in Rose Hill Burial Park, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma County, Oklahoma, USA. He is remembered on a memorial in Nonsard, France. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Vigneulles, France but his surname is inscribed as Winklins.
