When Grover K. Spratt was born in October 1896 in Georgia, his father, Benjamin, was 40 and his mother, Mary, was 36. He had four brothers and two sisters. He entered the military service in North Carolina and served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private First Class in 1st Military Police Company, 1st Infantry Division. He died of disease or other cause on April 23, 1918 and is now buried in Suresnes American Cemetery, Suresnes, France.
