Engagement: Defensive Sector: Ansauville (Lorraine), Died on March 3, 1918, of wounds received in action; remains returned to U.S. on Aug. 1, 1921, and buried at Velva, N. Dak. Cited in General Orders No. 1, Headquarters, 1st Division, Camp Zachary Taylor, Ky., Jan. 1, 2910, for gallantry in action and especially meritorious services. Entitled to wear a silver star.
