When Verlin Wycliff Taylor was born on July 13, 1894, in Graham, Missouri, his father, Isaac, was 45 and his mother, Arabel, was 36. He had one brother and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Corporal in Battery C, 5th Field Artillery Regiment, 1st Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on September 2, 1918 in France at the age of 24 and is now buried in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA.
