When Oscar Jacobson was born on August 19, 1889, in Kandota, Minnesota, his father, Carl, was 44 and his mother, Erika, was 34. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company A, 2nd Machine Gun Battalion, 1st Infantry Division.
