Harry Howell was born on October 17, 1895 in Randolph County, Indiana. He served in the U.S. Army during World War I as a Private in Company E, 18th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 9, 1918 at the age of 22 in France and is now buried in Buena Vista Cemetery, Winchester, Randolph County, Indiana, USA. His name is commemorated on the First Infantry Division monument in Saint-Juvin, France but listed in Company D of his unit.
