Alfred T. Goodwin was born in 1900 and entered the military service in North Dakota. He served in the U.S. Army during Wolrd War I as a Private in Company I, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action but declared "Missing" on July 19, 1918 and is memorialized on Tablets of the Missing, Aisne-Marne American Cemetery, Belleau, France. The Bean-Goodwin American Legion Post in Oakes, North Dakota is named in his honor. His name is commemorated on the Buzancy monument in the MISSING IN ACTION section of the monument.
