When Ellis Tyner was born in November 1899 in Robeson, North Carolina, his father, Elias, was 45 and his mother, Martha, was 38. He served in the U.S. Army during Wolrd War I as a Private in Company D, 16th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division. He was Killed in Action on October 9, 1918 and is now buried in Meuse-Argonne American Cemetery and Memorial, Romagne-sous-Montfaucon, Departement de la Meuse, Lorraine, France. His name is commemorated on the Buzancy monument in the MISSING IN ACTION section of the monument and ranked as a Private First Class. His name is also listed in the St. Juvin monument, that is also in France.
