When Arthur William "Art" Skinner was born on July 23, 1925, in Jersey City, New Jersey, his father, William, was 24 and his mother, Lillian, was 28. He had one brother and four sisters. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a Private in Company D, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 82nd Airborne Division. He died from his wounds received in battle on January 9, 1945 (at the age of 19) and is now buried in Bayview-New York Bay Cemetery, Jersey City, Hudson County, New Jersey, USA.
