Record. Born January 10, 1892, Thorntown; son of Andrew and Flora (Sexson) Coffman. Bridge carpenter, Thorntown. Enlisted August 10, 1913, Indianapolis. Training: Columbus Barracks, Ohio; Fort Bliss, Tex. Assigned to Company E, 26th Infantry. Private first class, March 20, 1918. Overseas June 14, 1917. Battles: Toul, Picardy, Chaumont, Montdidier-Noyon, Cantigny, Aisne-Marne, Château-Thierry, Saizerais. Killed in action July 20, 1918, Sois-sons. Buried at Thorntown.
