GI Statue - To Our Liberators
Details:
In the center of the small square at the end of the pedestrian zone in the center of town. Statue A life-sized bronze sculpture of an American GI mounted on a rough basalt base. The sculpture and base sit on a five pointed cobblestone star in a round flower bed. There is some text on the front and back of the sculpture as well as a bronze plaque on the base.
Monument Text:
On the pedestal in the middle a glass with US unit emblems surrounding the text in English andLuxembourgian. The text in English reads:
Unit Symbols: First and Third Army; 17th Airborne Division; 2nd,3rd,4th,6th, 7th, 9th Armored Divisions; and, the 4th,5th, 8th, 26th, 28th, 35th, 76th, 80th, 83rd, 87th, 90th and 94th Infantry Divisions.
On the plaque on the lower left side of the front of the monument the following text can be read:

Monument GI 1944-45 erige par le circle d'etudes sur la bataille des Ardennes (CEBA) en 1983. ENGLISH TRANSLATION: GI 44-45 Monument erected by the society for the study of the battle of the Bulge (CEBA) in 1983.

Dieses Denkmal wurde 1983 nach einer Idee und nach den Planen von Frank Kieffer, Asselborn, verwirklicht. The realization of this monument in 1983 is based on the idea and the plans of Frank Kieffer, Asselborn.
