Cette oeuvre en bronze, d'une hauteur de 3m, realisee par les sculpteurs Americains Tomas Bustos et David Newton, est un don fait aux villes de Chateauroux et Deols par un mecene Americain anonyme qui a passe une partie de son enfance a Chateauroux. Elle commemore l'amitie entre le peuple Americain et les populations de Chateauroux et Deols.

Cette statue est offerte aux habitants de Chateauroux et de Deols, en memoire des lieux ou nous avons vecus, travaille, et sommes alles a l'ecole. Que la flamme de notre amitie continue a bruler!

Dans la cadre de l'OTAN, a partir de juin 1951, l'Armee de l'Air Americaine installe a Chateauroux Deols un depot de materiel et un atelier de reparation d'avions. Ils seront jusqu'a 5000 militaires Americains a arpenter les rues de Chateauroux, de Deols, et de Chateauroux Air Station (CHAS). En Mars 1967, ils quitteront la France.

Aujourd'hui leurs enfants se souviennent.

This 3m bronze statue was a gift from an anonymous American benefactor to the towns of Chateauroux and Deols, as he had spent part of his childhood there. It was created by American sculptors Tomas Bustos and David Newton and commemorates the friendship between Americans and the towns of Chateauroux and Deols.

This statue is given to the inhabitants of Chateauroux and Deols, in memory of the places, we lived, worked, and studied. May the flame of our friendship keep burning!

From June 1951, as part of NATO's deployment, the US Air Force installed a materiel depot and repair station in Chateauroux Deols. 5000 American servicemen roamed the streets of Chateauroux, Deols, and the Chateauroux Air Station (CHAS). They left France in March 1967.
