82nd Airborne Division Liberation Plaque
Details:
The plaque is located in the center of the southern edge of the site facing the street. It is directly to the west of several other plaques commemorating civilians killed in WWII as well as the first borne of the Voie de la Liberté (Liberty Road). Plaque The small grey granite plaque is mounted to a decorative concrete wall which features two other plaques unrelated to American military service. It features gold leaf text in English and notes the significance of the city of Sainte-Mère-Église as the first to be liberated by Allied forces on 5-6 June 1944 during WWII.
