82nd and 101st Airborne Stele
Details:
30 meters to the left of the Iron Mike statue on a downhill slope. Monument A tear shaped, brown granite stele monument. There is a rectangular shaped piece of granite bolstered to the front bearing the insignias of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions and a white outline of a paratrooper. Underneath this, there is gold leaf text that says "IN MEMORIAM" as well as a poem by Herodote written in French and English.
This monument honors those members of the 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions who landed here during the Normandy Invasion and fought at La Fiere.
