The memorial members the crew of B-17 (42-30105) “Slightly Dangerous” of the 412th Bomber Squadron, 95th Bomb Group when it took off from station 119 Horham, Suffolk, UK at 0600 on a mission to Le Bourget. At 0815 it was shot down by German fighters. With two of its engines on fire, part of the crew managed to jump before it exploded in midair and crashed in the village of St-Didier-des-Bois.
