In the west end of the St. Mihiel American Cemetery in Thiaucourt, France. Monument A very large stone monument that memorializes the fallen American soldiers of WWI and their desire to go home. It was put in by Harriet Beale whose son Walker Beale is interred at St. Mihiel Cemetery.

Il dort loin des siens dans la douce terre de France
English Translation:
He sleeps far from his family in the gentle land of France.
Blessed are they that have the home longing for they shall go home.
