Museum

The Upottery Heritage Centre preserves the history of RAF Upottery and its pivotal role in the D-Day invasion, highlighting the activities of the U.S. Army Air Forces' 439th Troop Carrier Group and the American airborne troops who departed from the airfield on June 56, 1944. Housed in part of the original 439th Troop Carrier Group headquarters and a Nissen hut, the museum features rare photographs, films, uniforms, weapons, artifacts, and exhibits documenting the preparations for Operation Overlord, including the departure of the famed "Easy Company" of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment.
