Isolated BurialA standard inscribed upright Commonwealth War Graves Commission (CWGC) memorial headstone.
The Isolated Burial (ISOB) of 2LT Cuthbert C.C. Buckle of Virginia who was killed in Action in July 1916 during the Battle of the Somme while seriving with the Queen's Own (Royal West Kent Regiment) A Company, 6th Battalion. The 6th Royal West Kents lost 394 men killed, wounded or missing on that day, July 3 1916. Only one officer from Cuthbert's company returned. Cuthbert is buried in Serre Road Cemetery No.2 and he is commemorated on the Episcopal High School memorial, the Banstead war memorial and on the wooden panels in the Lady Chapel in All Saints. He was 24.
