MuseumA museum which includes American contributuoins to the Champagne front during WW1.
Located on the former Champagne front, the Marne 14-18 Interpretation Centre stands at the crossroads of the Verdun and Chemin des Dames sites. It offers a vivid, modern, and human-centered presentation of the First World War. A rich collection of images and numerous accounts left by soldiers and civilians reveal the full intensity and horror of the conflict.
During the four years of the war, four major battles took place in the Champagne sector of the front:
-the powerful French offensive of September 25, 1915, which met with limited success;
- the recapture of the Moronvilliers Massif from the enemy in April and May 1917;
-the halting of the final German attackthe "Friedensturm"by General Gourauds Fourth Army on July 15, 1918;
-and, finally, the victorious Franco-American offensive of September 26, 1918, which liberated Sommepy and concluded at Sedan on November 11.
