Memorial Plaque to the 453rd and 389th Bomb Group Airmen

On the church wall.
PlaqueA large wall-mounted wooden memorial plaque is divided into two main panels: the upper panel commemorates members of the 389th Heavy Bombardment Group who lost their lives in a mid-air collision over the parish on November 21, 1944, while the lower panel honors members of the 453rd Heavy Bombardment Group who were killed in a similar incident on February 9, 1945. Each section includes a dedication inscription along with a list of the names and ranks of the fallen airmen.
The planes in the crashes included:
389th Bomber Group Planes: B-24 'Earthquake McGoon' (42-50452); & B-24 'Old Glory' (44-10513).
453rd Bomber Group Planes: B-24 'Worry Bird' (42-50703) & B-24 'Spirit of Notre Dame' (42-95102)
