491st & 492nd Bomber Group (RAF North Pickenham Airfield) Memorial

On the edge of Brecklands Green

Monument

A black marble tablet containing the engraved inscription. At the top is the 8th Air Force badge (the flying 8 ball) and each side of this is an etched depiction of a Consolidated B24 Liberator bomber. The tablet is mounted into a Norfolk napped Flint pier surrounded by a red brick wall. A small planter is in front of the wall on either side.

The memorial remembers the 491st and 492nd Bomber Groups which flew from RAF North Pickenham (USAAF Station 143) during WW2.
