A rectangular memorial plaque mounted on a brick wall and set within a polished wooden frame commemorating the crew of a B-17 #43-38733 ''I'll Be Seeing You,'' which crashed near Westhall on March 24, 1945 after being battle damaged during Operation Varsity- the Allied Airborne crossing of the Rhine River.
The inscription lists the crew members along with their roles and indicates their fate, and features the insignia of the 8th Air Force and the 401st Bomb Group.

Monument Text:

This memorial was erected by the people of Westhall to the memory of members
of a crew of a battle damaged B17 "Flying Fortress" which was returning
from a mission to Rheine, Germany and crashed at White House Farm,
Westhall, whilst attempting an emergency landing at Halesworth Airfield on
Saturday 24th March, 1945, 12 noon. Seven crewmen perished.

The aircraft, "I'll Be Seeing You" was from the 612th Bomb Squadron
of the 401st Bomb Group, United States Eighth Army Airforce, based at
Deenethorpe, Northamptonshire.
