2LT Soskice served with the OSS and was attached to Section F of the SOE British-led Scullion II operation. which sought to sabotage the Nazi Les Telots shale oil refinery Operation SCULLION ll arrived in France on the night of 16/17 August 1943 to sabotage the Les Telots oil refinery near Autun, France after a previous operation called SCULLION l had failed. The team consisted of nine British operatives, four French, one American, and one Canadian. The team damaged the refinery with explosives but there are differing views of how effective the operation was, and several were captured. They were brought together in Flossenbürg Concentration Camp in April 1944.
After months of suffering, all were executed. Two were shot in 1944, the others were hanged on 29 March 1945.
