On August 22, 1944, a damaged four-engine American bomber Consolidated B-24H-25-CF Liberator, No. 42-50483, from the 15th Air Force, 459th Bombardment Group, 759th Squadron, crashed at this location.

All 9 crew members safely parachuted out of the aircraft. Five of them were captured in the following days and transported to prison camps. After crossing the border with Slovakia, the four pilots managed to reach the rebel airfield "Tri Duby" near Banská Bystrica and from there flew to their home base Giulia in Italy. All 9 members of the Liberator crew survived the war in good health.
