The memorial remembers the 70th Anniversary of the liberation of the town by the 317th and 318th Infantry Regiments of the 80th "Blue Ridge" Infantry Division in November 1944 as part of the Lorraine Campaign in World War 2. The memorial lists the names of the soldiers killed during the liberation of the town.
