MarkerA rectangular black stone marker commemorating SSgt Donald Willis Taylor, waist gunner of B-17G "Blitzin' Betsy" (42-37886), 562nd Bombardment Squadron, 388th Bombardment Group (Heavy), 45th Combat Wing, 3rd Air Division, Eighth Air Force, who was Killed in Action. On the return from a mission to Klein Machnow, Berlin on 6 Mar 1944, B-17G #42-37886 'Blitzin' Betsy' was severely damaged by attacks from several FW190s causing it to collide with another 388th Group B-17, exploding in mid-air and crashing near Emmen, Netherlands. Installed in 2017, the marker displays the fallen soldiers name, date of death, age, service units, and unit insignia.
