Plaque

A black inscribed marble with a brass inscribed plaque below above a presenation box with an American Flag.

The plaque remembers the 381st Bomber Group that flew from nearby RAF Ridgewell (USAAF Station 167) during WW2.

On the marble plaque:

IN MEMORY OF THE MEN OF 381st

BOMB GROUP USAAF 8TH AIRFORCE

WHO GAVE THEIR LIVES IN DEFENCE

OF FREEDOM IN WORD WARD II

1939-1945

 

On the lower brass plaque:

 

During the second world war members of the 381st

bomber group regularly found spiritual comfort at

St. Augustine -Ahsen. Surviving members generously

contributed to the cost of chancel roof repairs.
