A rectangular bronze plaque, installed in October 2001 by the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR), commemorating the Dutch financial support that aided the United States during the Revolutionary War.

IN GRATITUDE FOR THE DUTCH SUPPORT

OF THE AMERICAN REVOLUTION

 

IN 1792, IN THIS BUILDING, JOHN ADAMS, AMERICAS

FIRST AMBASSADOR TO THE NETHERLANDS, MET

BANKER JAN WILLAINE TO ARRANGE LOANS TO HELP

ESTABLISH THE INDEPENDENCE OF THE UNITED STATES.

THE DIPLOMATIC RELATIONSHIP ENJOYED TODAY

BETWEEN THE TWO COUNTRIES IS ONE OF

AMERICA'S OLDEST CONTINUOUS FRIENDSHIPS.
