Monument

A triangular arch featuring a bronze relief sculpture depicting a group of soldiers, representing both Filipino and American troops, walking in a line with expressions of suffering and resilience. The artwork captures the harrowing experience of the Bataan Death March and serves as a tribute to the courage and endurance of those who participated. The Bataan Death March was the brutal, 65-mile forced transfer of 75,000 American and Filipino POWs by the Japanese army from the Bataan Peninsula to Camp O'Donnell on April 9, 1942, following the Battle of Bataan. The march was marked by extreme abuse and killings, with thousands of deaths; after the war, Japanese General Masaharu Homma and two officers were tried and sentenced to death for failing to prevent these atrocities.
