Monument

A rough-hewn stone monument topped by a rectangular bronze plaque honoring the 82nd Airborne Division for its role in capturing Hill 95 from July 4-6, 1944. The plaque includes a special mention of Lieutenant Kelso C. Horne, whose remains are interred at the site. The plaque, inscribed in both French and English, features the division's insignia.

On July 4, 1944, the 82nd Airborne Division, notably elements of the 508th Parachute Infantry Regiment, led the effort to seize the hill. The battle was marked by intense fighting, as the American paratroopers faced fortified German positions and heavy machine-gun fire amidst challenging hedgerow terrain. For three days, the 82nd engaged in fierce combat, overcoming multiple counterattacks and entrenched German defenses. It ultimately led to the capture of Hill 95 on July 6, 1944.
