Monument
A headstone-style monument with a rectangular white plaque honoring the establishment of Eisenhower's headquarters at this site in August 1944. The inscription is written in French. In mid-August 1944, General Eisenhower set up a temporary Allied headquarters in Jullouville, Normandy, to coordinate the campaign in northern France after D-Day. This strategic location supported communications and logistics for Allied offensives, including the liberation of Paris and the advance toward Germany.
