An inscribed dark marble civilian grave. The grave includes a picture of LT DeLorenzo and a copy of his Military Intelligence training certificate.
The cenotaph of Lieutenant Robert Jean DeLorenzo Jr. of the Intelligence Section of the 90th "Tough Hombres" Infantry Division who was KIA in Sainte Mere Elise (Normandy) on June 13, 1944.
LT DeLorenzo was the son of WW1 Veteran Corporal Robert DeLorenzo (5th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division) who was gassed and met his French Nurse wife, Marie Ventalon, during the First World War. After the war Robert and Marie returned to the US and settled in St. Louis, Missouri. Robert Jr. was born in 1919 and returned several times to study in France before the war. He was wounded on June 12, 1944 and died the next day.
