A stained glass window featuring the image of the Virgin Mary and a paratrooper honoring Lt Robert J. De Lorenzo who died from his wounds received in battle on June 13, 1944.
Lieutenant Robert Jean DeLorenzo Jr. served in the Intelligence Section of the 90th "Tough Hombres" Infantry Division who was KIA in Sainte Mere Elise (Normandy) on June 13, 1944.
LT DeLorenzo was the son of WW1 Veteran Corporal Robert DeLorenzo (5th Field Artillery, 1st Infantry Division) who was gassed and met his French Nurse wife, Marie Ventalon, during the First World War. After the war Robert and Marie returned to the US and settled in St. Louis, Missouri. Robert Jr. was born in 1919 and returned several times to study in France before the war. He was wounded on June 12, 1944 and died the next day.
The stained glass window was donated by his French family.
He is also remembered on a cenotaph in the nearby cemetery.
