Isolated Burial

A tall standing civilian white gravestone.

The Isolated Burial (ISOB) of PFC Manuel Otero Martinez who fought in both the Spanish Civil War and in World War 2.  He immigrated to New York and joined the US Army. During WW2 he served with the 16th Infantry Regiment, of the "Bid Red One"- 1st Infantry Division.  He was killed in action on Omaha Beach on D-Day, June 6, 1944.  He is considered the only Spaniard who was KIA in the Normandy landings.
