Task Force Hogan/Hogan's 400 Monument

At the "Y' road intersection. Monument
An upright field stone with a marble inscribed plaque attached to the front; and information sign is adjacent the monument.
The memorial remembers Task Force Hogan which was formed mainly of 3rd Battalion of the 33rd Armored Regiment, 3rd Armored 'Spearhead' Division and its defense of the area around Beffe and Marcouray during the "Battle of the Bulge" during WW2.

IN MEMORY OF TASK FORCE HOGAN
AND LIEUTENANT COLONEL SAMUEL HOGAN
WHO, WITH COURAGE AND DETERMINATION, ESCAPED ON
THE NIGHT OF DECEMBER 25, 1944 FROM THE GERMAN
ENCIRCLEMENT. THIS ACT SAVED HUNDREDS OF SOLDIERS
FROM CAPTIVITY.
MAJOR GENERAL COLLINS ON HOGAN'S 400 ESCAPE:
YOUR INDOMITABLE COURAGE AND LEADERSHIP NOT ONLY ASSISTED IN CHECKING THE GERMAN ADVANCE IN THE NORTH,BUT
RESULTED IN SAVING SOME 400 MEN FROM CAPTURE. EQUIPMENT CAN ALWAYS BE REPLACED, BUT NOT SUCH MEN.
THIS MONUMENT HAS BEEN ERECTED TO COMMEMORATE THE 77TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE BATTLE OF THE BULGE.
