The plaque remembers BG Theodore Roosevelt Jr. who died in this town on July 12, 1944 while serving as the Assistant Division Commander of the 4th Infantry Division during WW2.
BG Roosevelt is buried at the Normandy American Cemetery and Memorials where he rests with his younger brother Quentin Roosevelt, shot by two German fighters in WW1 on July 14, 1918 and was buried initially in Chamery, France.
