A brass inscribed plaque with the symbols of the four US Army Divisions that liberated the Tyrol region of the Austria during WW2.
The region of Tyrol was liberated in late April/early May 1945. Units of the 36th "Texas"; 42nd "Rainbow" 44th and 103rd "Cactus" Infantry Divisions took this area. The 409th Infantry Regiment, 103rd Infantry division captured Innsbruck on May 3. The 103rd Infantry Division (commanded by MG Anthony McAuliffe) accepted the formal surrender of enemy forces in the Tyrol on May 4, 1945.
