A white rectangular plaque in tribute to Thomas Treanor. Thomas Treanor died in a front-line hospital on August 19, 1944, of injuries he suffered when a Sherman tank ran over his jeep at a crossroads on August 18. The accident took place at the intersection of D114 and D89, about 400 meters east from here.

Tom Treanor
Bréval, carrefour de la Scellée le 18 août 1944. La jeep des correspondants
de presse US a été écrasée par un char, accidentellement semble t-il ;
elle suivait de près le véhicule du général Patton. Cette affaire
mystérieuse est révélée ici pour la première fois. Char américain ou allemand ?
Patton était-il déjà visé ? A son bord se trouvait les correspondants de guerre
Sonnee Gottlieb de l'International New service ; Charles Shaw de la
Colombia Broadcasting Co. et Tom Treanor du Los Angeles Time.
Ce dernier va décéder des suites de ses blessures. On distingue deux des

Tom Treanor correspondant U.S, trouve la mort en accompagnant le général Patton sur la tête de pont de Mantes. Grand reporter de guerre, auteur de plusieurs ouvrages, il couvrit la plupart des campagnes de Patton.

Had Patton already been targeted? On board were war correspondents
Sonnee Gottlieb of the International New Service; Charles Shaw of the
Colombia Broadcasting Co. and Tom Treanor of Los Angeles Times.
