Lt. Allen Wiersema

4 Décembre, 1921 - 5 Juin, 1944

Le 5 juin, 1944, le lieutenant Allen Wiersema, (originaire de Fulton dans l'Illinois aux Etats-Unis), a été tué au combat quand son avion P-47 Thunderbolt a été abattu par les tirs anti-aériens allemands et est tombé sur le terrain de ce jardin botanique. Nous honorons le souvenir de cet aviateur américain qui se tient avec une longue lignée de patriotes qui ont donné leur vie pour la défense de la liberté. Vive la liberté. Vive la France. Vive les Etats-Unis d'Amérique.

On June 5, 1944, Lt. Allen Wiersema, Fulton, Illinois, USA, was killed in action when his P47 Thunderbolt aircraft was shot down by German anti-aircraft fire and crashed on the grounds of this arboretum. We honor and remember this American airman who stands with a long line of patriots that gave their lives in defense of freedom. Long live Freedom. Long live France. Long live the United States of America.
