Cenotaph
A headstone that is laid on the ground, bearing a black plaque containing a commemoration message for 2Lt Lowder. The plaque also contains the pilot’s etched portrait as well as an engraving of the American flag. The inscription is written in French in gold-leaf lettering. 2Lt Lowder’s aircraft crashed in the Choqueuse Forest in the commune of Jouarre during a reconnaissance mission on July 8, 1944. He is now buried in the Epinal American Cemetery, Dinozé, France.
