Museum
This castle was the command post of General J. Lawton "Lightning Joe" Collins in July 1944, commander of the US Army VII Corps.
Philippe and Céline Tanne bought the Château de Franquetot and turned it into a museum, the D-Day Collins Museum. It was here that they prepared Operation Cobra. In the courtyard of the castle, visitors are greeted by an American jeep and three illustrious generals: Joseph Lawton Collins, Omar Bradley, and Dwight D. Eisenhower. The most featured is the reconstituted command room of General Collins. Everything remained as the Americans left it in 1944 when they left the furniture and the equipment. Philippe Tanne revived General Collins' command post with its office, its command room with cards spread out on the billiards, the food reserve to supply the troops or the restroom reserved for nurses and soldiers on duty. Many other exhibited objects are exhibited in the other rooms of the castle.
The museum was opened to the public on April 15, 2023.
