A cet endroit est tombé, le 18 Mars 1944, un bombardier américain typé B 24 Libérator nommé « Old Daddy » et immatriculé 42-7497. Il appartenait au 392eme Bomb Group et a été abattu par un avion de chasse allemand. Sur les 10 membres d'équipage, 7 ont pu sauter en parachute et 3 autres sont morts dans le crash de leur avion. Ils furent enterrés à Kintzheim avant d'être transférés au cimetière militaire d'Epinal, pour Dinda et Lidgard. Le pilote, L.G Peterson, a été inhumé dans la tombe familiale aux USA. Un autre B 24 de cette unité s'est écrasé le même jour à Muttersholtz.

On March 18, 1944, an American B-24 Liberator bomber named "Old Daddy" with registration number 42-7497 fell on this spot. It belonged to the 392nd Bomb Group and was shot down by a German fighter plane. Of the 10 crew members, 7 were able to parachute out and 3 others died in the crash. For Dinda and Lidgard, they were buried in Kintzheim before being transferred to the military cemetery of Epinal. The pilot, L.G Peterson, was buried in the family grave in the USA. Another B24 of this unit crashed the same day at Muttersholtz.
