LT Church crash site
Details:
Along the canal outside of Haudainville, 500 meters from the locks. Marker A concrete cross painted white marks the spot where LT Church went down in his P-47 Thunderbolt. It bears a small metal plaque with French text.
Monument Text:
On 21 May, 1944, 500 meters from the village, 2LT pilot John M. Church was shot down by German fighter. He was 28 years old. He died for our liberty. Haudainville remembers, 25 May 1998.
