1Lt. Jesse P. Sweat and CPL Leonard A. Deluga Memorial

<< Back to Wiltz - West

Details:

This is easy to miss as it is located against a vegetation covered cliff face on the roadside. It is approximately 150 meters north of the intersection of N325 and N324 on the west cliff wall. There is no area big enough to park at the site but ample grass area at the intersection. The road is not heavily traveled so walking along the side of the road to the monument is stress free.  Monument

The monument is two triangle shape stones, one engraved with the country of Luxembourg painted white and the 28th Infantry Division emblem painted red, marking the place of the site. The other stone has a white painted star with the 28th Infantry Division emblem painted red in the middle. On the ground in the middle of the two stones is a rectangle stone and a triangle stone forming a rough arrow to the metal plaque attached to cliff wall.

The metal plaque displays the 28th Infantry Division emblem along with the dedication to 1 Lt Jesse P. Sweat and Cpl. Leonard A. Deluga who were killed in action at this spot. Plaque is written in French and English. It was dedicated in 1986.
